Ocho Puntas is a project developed over several years around Plaza de Cataluña in Barcelona, a space that Salcedo approaches not as a simple node of urban transit, but as a symbolic territory where time thickens and everyday experience acquires an almost ritual dimension. Far from any descriptive intention, the work is built through permanence and sustained observation, allowing the place to reveal itself through repetition, variation, and friction.

Salcedo positions his camera in a state of constant attention, letting minor gestures, fleeting presences, animals, shadows, and architectural elements emerge within an uninterrupted flow. The square thus appears as a mental landscape, a site of tension where the individual and the collective intertwine without hierarchy. Rather than seeking to capture events, the project accompanies time, accepts its drift, and records its resonances.

The eight-pointed star that geometrically structures the space functions as an invisible axis running through the entire series. This latent geometry introduces the idea of an implicit order within the apparent chaos of the urban environment, suggesting a symbolic organization that becomes perceptible only through accumulation and prolonged experience.

In Ocho Puntas, photography becomes a practice of listening and ethical attention toward public space. The project reflects on the contemporary city as a shared, fragile, and mutable place, inviting viewers to slow their gaze and reconsider their relationship with the spaces they inhabit and traverse.
